I just have to say something on this subject that has made it across the world, this little girl that's missing, I'm sure you all have heard of her, Madeline McCann. I'm not going to say anything too rude, I honestly hope and pray that they find her safe, but my one problem here is why aren't the parents being reprimanded for leaving her alone? Maybe I'm dumb to the laws of their land, but here, at least in my state, its ABSOLUTELY illegal to leave any child at home under the age of 12. The only way you are able to leave a child younger than 12 at home is if someone 12 or older is there. I don't care if you're just "running to the store" or whatever you want to call it, if someone were to find out, your kids will be taken from you, and not by the lurking stranger...but by the state.
I am a single mother, and believe me, the prospect of leaving my kids at home by themselves, ages 6 and 2, just to run somewhere real quick without having to drag them along, is appealing sometimes. But then the thoughts of a house fire, or kids running with knives or scissors, or bouncing on the bed, or walking out into the middle of the street; these all run through my head. And of course CPS comes to mind as well. So for the safety of my children, I tote them with me wherever I go, end of discussion.
So, could I possibly have more sympathy if this couple were a single mom needing to run to the store next door to get some milk and all three of her children were asleep and someone popped in the window and stole her poor little sleeping child.?
No...children are the responsibility of the parents, remember that children don't ask to be brought into this world. That means you gotta make sacrifices, damn it...and this includes NOT having a romantic childless dinner with you husband...I don't care if you're on vacation, I don't care if you haven't had an evening alone in the past year...YOU DON'T LEAVE YOUR KIDS ALONE.
Ok...so let's try again to justify the parents way of thinking. They said the restaurant they dined in had a direct view of the room. I don't even want to get off on a rant about how someone could break in and steal your child when you have the room in your direct vision.
They said they were checking on the children every "half hour or so." Who has kids? Anybody? Anybody??? How fast can kids get hurt or into something they're not supposed to be in??
Don't they know by now...5 years later...just exactly what can happen in 30 minutes? I don't know...but my kids can sure find trouble fast. You know, things like light sockets, pieces of whatever happens to be on the floor, lighters, chemicals and everything else under the sun. Even now that they are a little older, they still pull crazy stunts like jumping from one piece furniture to another, without any regard to the sturdiness of said furniture, swinging plastic sword, sticks and baseball bats at eachother, and wrestling, all the wonderful ways a child can get hurt.
Do you know how quickly a child can get lost? 30 minutes is enough time for your child to escape the room and walk off in whatever direction for 28 more minutes.
And what about water? Children can drown super fast, had she got stuck in some water a few minutes after the latest "check up" they would have came back to a water logged child.
So I can't possibly begin to understand how this makes sense, and why they are getting so much attention without abomination. They should at least treat the parents with a little bit of discrepancy, you know, at least look into them being suspect of her disappearance...or at the very least entertain the thought.
You may be thinking I'm cruel right about now, and that's fine...but let me add one more remark before I go and before you label me a monster...
The hotel resort they were staying at had a daycare center. Meaning they had somewhere to take their children while they dined, or spent time together. Why was this option not utilized? Let's say the daycare was closed, ok, postpone your romantic get away for a time that the center was open. This just doesn't click with me.
There's a movie theater here in my city with a daycare center for parents that want to actually sit and watch an entire movie without dealing with noisy and squirming kiddos. If I were to go to the movies at this theater, leave my kids in the car promising to check on them every half hour or so, and one of them were to disappear, would I still receive the same public support? My answer HELL NO. My point is, that little girl never...NEVER should have been left alone, especially with two 2 year olds...WTF??? Hate me if you want...but deep down you know I'm right.
As a side note, please remember that I pray for the little girl and hope she is found safe. When she is, I hope they question the parenting skills of her mom and dad.

Hello!
So, this is not my first time to blog, I actually have a few on my MySpace page, but people rarely read those, so I decided, why not go ahead and just start a blog. I love to write, write write write!!! I have thoughts flowing through me constantly, so it's just in me to be able to get it all out, or I will go crazy. No really...I would go absolutely insane. so what better way to release my thoughts than to blog them? So, get ready for my blog, which has no real topic, just stuff in my head! I hope you enjoy what I write, or not! Opposition is what gives life its juice, so feel free to oppose too, I promise I won't get too offended, and if I do, well, I can always retaliate...so don't dish if you can't take! Bye for now!
